Hi, my name is Amanda. I’m a PhD candidate in the Anthropology Department at the University of Amsterdam in the Moving Matters Research group (MoMat). I’m part of the Eco-Imagining Africa project- an NWO-NRF research project between South Africa and the Netherlands working on WEF-nexus precarity in urban South Africa.
My specific focus is on the politics of water along some of the largest rivers in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
My MPhil (2022) dissertation investigated water inequality in Cape Town, South Africa against the backdrop of the Cape Water Crisis (2015-2018).
I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in African Studies and a Bachelor of Social Science with a double major in International Relations, and Environmental and Geographical Science, all from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
